Read the text and answer the questions.
SHAKIRA
Shakira was born in Colombia on 2 February 1977. Her name means “thankful”. She’s a world famous singer, songwriter, and dancer. Shakira has wanted to be a performer since she was 4 years old. As a child, she enjoyed singing for schoolmates and teachers at her school, but in the second grade she was rejected for the school choir because her music teacher told her that she sounded "like a goat.” At school, she was known as "the belly dancer girl", because she danced for her friends every Friday. "That's how I discovered my passion for live performance," she says. Her first album, “Laundry Service” sold over thirteen million copies! She has won two Grammy Awards and seven Latin Grammy Awards. Her latest album, “She Wolf”, was released on 12 October 2009. It looks like Shakira has a lot to be thankful for.
Shakira is a great philanthropist, too. She has created two charities that offer poor children health care and help them get a better education. She says “I believe that every child should have the right to follow their dreams and get an education. It is a basic right, but too often poor children are shut out. Growing up in Colombia, I have seen how education can change a child's life forever”.
